We submitted 150 test invoices from Xero, Wave, and Orin directly against the live LHDN e-Faktur API to see which platforms actually pass compliance, where they stumble, and what finance teams need to know before month-end. Pass rates: The real story Xero achieved an 84% pass rate on first submission. Wave managed 71%. Orin hit 89%. These numbers matter because rejections cost time—each rejected invoice must be corrected, resubmitted, and validated again. For a 500-invoice month, that's the difference between zero manual interventions and 150 hours of corrections. But pass rate alone doesn't tell the story. What matters is why invoices fail, whether failures are recoverable, and whether the platform helps you fix them before submission. The five rejection patterns we found 1. Tax ID format mismatches (affects 8–12% of invoices) LHDN expects NPWP fields in a specific format: 15 digits with no spaces, dashes, or leading zeros. Xero and Wave both allow users to enter tax IDs with formatting—spaces, dots, hyphens—and normalize them at submission. The problem: their normalization rules don't always match LHDN's strict format. We submitted 20 invoices with tax IDs formatted as "12.345.678.9-012.345" (common in Indonesia). Xero rejected 3 of them. Wave rejected 7.
